Raphael Sutcliffe

Similarly to his brothers, Raphael began his musical journey at a young age. Technically minded, he began by constructing a drum kit from large paint tubs and lego, using wooden rails "borrowed" from a bed as sticks. His hand turned to guitar after a rather unsuccessful trip to a music shop where his father was set on an acoustic, whilst Raphael was set on a bass. Father triumphed. But not for long. Eventually Raphael was offered his instrument of choice and so the love of low end rumbling commenced.
In his Uni years, Raphael spent most of his time in Rock bands, but still maintained his family musical relationship as both the Sutcliffe Brothers and Amberglow. After a few gigs playing with Beach Boys Smile as deputy drummer and/or bassist, Raphael realised where his ultimate calling lay and so he began to pester both Jean-Pierre and Ben. Eventually, they became tired of the ritual and had to concede to Raphael's request, bringing the last Sutcliffe brother onto the stage in 2009.
