Richie Hart
Keyboards and Vocals
Richie started playing the tuba at 9 and joined the National Youth Orchestra for three years; at 15 he was awarded the Special Award for Achievement in Music for his grade 8 mark, and at 16 he had gained his Diploma with High Honours. He is somewhat a multi-instrumentalist, having also been a church organist for 2 years, amongst other things.
However, it was at 16 that his life and musical aspirations began to change. Having only begun singing a few months earlier, he joined an a cappella vocal harmony group with Johnny, JP and Jean-Michel at TCM; such was the power of the musicality and aural perception of this group, that tuba playing began to take a backseat. Vocal harmony was what life was all about, not sitting at the back of an orchestra. He rapidly became infatuated with the Beach Boys, Take 6, The King’s Singers and anything remotely a cappella.
Richie currently freelances in the West End on tuba, double bass and keyboards (his recent shows include The Importance of Being Earnest at The Regent's Park Theatre and Burnt by the Sun at the National Theatre. Richie is also an actor, most recently starring in The Inbetweeners on E4.
